M Lourdes Garcia Gonzalez MD PhD
Dr. Garcia is an Ophthalmologist with training in the U.S. and abroad. She specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of adult and children eye disorders.

She received Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Genetic Eye Disorders at the Cleveland Clinic. This included elective training in Neuro-Ophthalmology from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University. After a Transitional Internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA, Dr Garcia completed an ophthalmology Residency at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Previously, Dr Garcia had received a Ph.D. degree in Vision Sciences from the Institute of Applied Biology in Ophthalmology at the University of Valladolid in Spain.
Dr Garcia has authored numerous papers, given international presentations, and is the co-author on a textbook on genetic disorders and the eye.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is now serving Hampton Roads from her offices in Norfolk and Virginia Beach
She is fluent in English and Spanish.
